About the Bag

Sue Cheek of Maggy55 is known for her attention to detail. Rest assured; she continues to deliver with The Duchess. Each detail has been meticulously considered, from the stitching patterns and stabilizers to the placement of the strap, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and construction convenience. Throughout the design process, Sue has created a seamless blend of innovation and tradition, while infusing a contemporary flair. Sue’s expertise and vision will guide our journey, leading to the creation of a handbag that embodies the essence of craftsmanship and artistry.
This leather shoulder bag embodies elegance with its sleek design and curvaceous lines, exuding both sophistication and practicality. Crafted from supple leather, it boasts a timeless appeal and promises durability for everyday use. The construction of The Duchess is as unique as its design, utilizing an "outside in" technique that requires no turning at all.
The Duchess offers ample space for your essentials without compromising on style. Its rounded edges soften the silhouette, adding a touch of femininity to its overall aesthetic. The bag strikes a perfect balance between compactness and functionality. The unique design provides sufficient room for your necessities without appearing bulky. Whether you're carrying your wallet, phone, keys, or other essentials, this bag ensures you stay organized without sacrificing style.
The shoulder strap offers versatility in wear, allowing you to carry it comfortably on your shoulder or sling it effortlessly across your forearm or hand.
Overall, the Duchess combines practical dimensions with graceful curves, making it a timeless accessory that effortlessly elevates any ensemble.

The Countess Coin Keeper is our bonus project. The oval shape, echoing the Duchess, is sleek and compact, yet has ample room for on-the-go items.
Paired with the key leash, it can also be secured inside the Duchess. Measuring at 6’ wide and 4.75” high, The Countess completes the ensemble with sophistication and class.

About Your Teacher

Hi everyone! My name is Sue Cheek, and I am the owner and designer of both Maggy55 patterns, and Maggy55 finished handbags.

I have been sewing leather handbags for over eight years, and have loved every aspect of it. I was a custom drapery designer for many years, and a lot of the design elements that I used in that industry, can be reflected in the details of my finished bags and patterns.
