In 2016, I was doing professional long arm quilting when I got together with a high school girlfriend. We hadn’t seen each other for about 20 years, and we were catching up. She was making children’s clothing, so we were talking about our love of sewing. She asked me if I had ever made a handbag…. I told her no, that I didn’t even know that was a thing…. She texted me the link to Blue Calla Patterns. I bought “Aster” and made it. It was love at first sew! Next came “Lotus”, then “The Necessary Clutch Wallet” by Emmaline Bags. I did a hack to that pattern and increased the size to 150%. I had so many requests for a video series on how I did that that we ended up doing a little sew
along. That was the start of my YouTube channel! After my very first bag, I no longer even wanted to look at my long arm quilting machine again…. I told myself that I would give it a year…. If I didn’t go back to quilting, then I would sell it. I made it nine months and knew wholly and completely that I’d found my home with bag making. And the rest, as
they say, is history!
